About Sharanalayam Public Charitable Trust

All kinds of facilities (shelter, food, clothing, medicine, recreation) are provided in the new building for the destitute and helpless old people. Apart from these, day care for differently-abled children has also been started. During the last two years, the shelter has been able to provide emergency medical care to a few people from the lower strata of the society. A fully pregnant woman and her family, who were evicted from a house due to rent arrears, were sheltered in a shelter until delivery, provided with a temporary accommodation, and helped to start a venture for daily work. An elderly inmate of the asylum, who was blind and hearing impaired, was treated and surgically restored to sight in one eye. A woman with late stage cancer was admitted and continued treatment. The body of this inmate, who died in the medical college, was cremated under the supervision of Saranalayam in the presence of their relatives.

The greatest blessing of the shelter is the collective action of like-minded people who share the same goal of life to bring light to those who have lost hope in life. It has fulltime workers, volunteers and sponsors. Its greatest glory is that its trustees work round the clock for the refuge.
